frankly in the past debate. one of the other things we're talking about this week is the fact that romney seemingly in what he laid out in the past debate on his tax cuts, what he's saying and the reality of his plan don't add up. the president wasn't able effectively say to him, you know, you haven't been specific on the deductions. he did not directly challenge mitt romney, and one of the things looking forward this week interesting to see is whether joe biden is able to turn to paul ryan in that way and say, your math doesn't add up. give me one specific deduction. in some ways i think with joe biden and paul ryan it's going to be an even more damaging conversation if ryan has to obviscate and come up with specifics because he's the numbers guy. >> he's going to be prepared. we'll be prepared. >> he doesn't have enough time it to answer the question, but going back to the theme of the day, what matters, the economy always matters. ever since the cold war it's been about the economy with the possible exception of '04, right? we're in the war of terrorism. >> even in '04 the exit polls s

. it's good news for mitt romney. he did get a debate bounce. brand-new polls show the two candidates in a dead-heat at 47%. romney, reracing the gap. paul steinhauser joins us from washington. these are new. break them down for us? >> let's go back to the screen you were showing. when are we going to see polls? here we go. go back to the screen you had up there. you see what gallup did. those are the numbers on the three days prior to the presidential debate. on the right, the numbers on the three days after the debate. this is the first real nonpartisan live operator national poll we've seen since the debate on wednesday in denver. a five-point advantage for the president before the debate. and dead-heat after. gallup is a seven-day tracking poll. add it together and you saw the president with a 49%-46% advantage. that's within the sampling error. two other things, this is among registered voters, not of likely voters. most polling has moved to the likely voter model, which is narrower. go to the next screen. i want to show you. gallup, like a bunch of debate watchers. ours was the

we have is the debate performance wasn't a matter of style it was a matter of substance. romney laid out a plan for turning this economy around and getting things moving again. he had a fact based critique of president obama's failed policies that the president was unable to respond to. and today and since then the obama campaign they remind me a little bit of a 7-year-old losing a checker game instead of being frustrated at the outcome they sweep the board off the table. the fact is if president obama is re-elected as governor romney pulled out we are going to have continued chronically high unemployment and we are going to have continued massive staff instead of moving toward a budget. healthcare premium also continue to rise 20 million americans will lose their employer based health insurance on obama care and rake 716 billion from medicare. governor romney will have a different approach that will move this country in the right direction. that's what they are frustrated about, george. >> we will preview the vice presidential debate. what should we hear from joe biden? we will all
